Netley gets better for cycling
Hampshire County Council in partnership with Eastleigh Borough Council
is looking to implement a shared cycleway proposal on Abbey Hill in
Netley from the entrance to Abbotts Lodge to the Grange Road junction.
Subject to agreement by the Local Area Committee the work will be
started in March 2012. This follows the recent installation of a
new cycle route across the recreation ground at Abbey Hill and provides
another section of the NCN2 (National Cycle Network 2) cycleway from
Weston to Warsash.
Gravel update – a big Thankyou
Thank you to everyone who made their views known about proposals to dig
gravel out of Hamble Airfield. All the views have now gone to the
Secretary of State who will appoint an independent Planning Inspector to
judge whether the plans put forward are right.
Funding for local groups
Lots of people in the community are involved in small groups providing
activities and interesting things to enjoy for old and young alike.
Many organisations are run very cheaply with volunteers and raise funds
from year to year. EBC supports these groups with small amounts of
one-off funding to help groups offer an even better service At its last
meeting on 2nd February the Committee awarded more funds for local
groups.
Improvements in your neighbourhood
The Local Area Committee continues to fund improvements to the
infrastructure of neighbourhoods across the area:
All-weather cricket surface at Long Lane in Bursledon
Refurbishment of Pilands Wood Community Centre
Bollards to prevent illegal parking at South Court in Hamble
Funding for new litter bins
New kerbing and bollards at Queens View in Netley
Come and have your say
Local Area Committee meetings are held at a local venue (at Hamble
Primary School) so that people can come along and ask questions.
You don’t have to have an item on the agenda as there is always a public
question session at the start of each meeting.
At the last meeting Members heard from a local children’s group and are
now considering how they can help. We also had a question from a
resident about noise pollution which we are now following up with the
Environmental Health team.
The next meeting dates are 29th March, 28th June, and 19th September.
All meetings are on a Thursday at 5.30pm at Hamble Primary School. If
you’d like to know more about the meeting before coming along, or
anything else about the work of the Council in the area – please get in
touch.
